Top Kill Method to Stop the Oil Leak

The next method to (hopefully) completely stop the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico is called the Top Kill Method. High pressure mud is pumped into a chamber at the bottom of the ocean. This chamber contains junk material that is forced into the blowout preventer.  The junk collects at the bottom of the preventer and stops or slows the oil flow down. At this point a concrete mixture is pumped into the the system to permanently seal it up and fix the oil leak. View the visualization for this procedure.
